The ultimate and arguably most desirable G-Series 911 is, then, a late G50 equipped Carrera 3.2. Which is handy, because that’s what we’ve got here.
ALL WHITE NOW
Guards Red, Basalt Black and Grand Prix White were the definitive 80s Porsche 911 colours and coincidentally, we have one of each. Grand Prix white was also Porsche’s Works racing colour too which really suits the 911, contrasting well with the black detailing and black front and rear wings.
First delivered to Issac Agnew Ltd, Official Porsche Centre, Co. Antrim, in February 1988, this Carrera 3.2 has spent most of its life in Northern Ireland, which is no bad place for any Porsche, given some of the wonderful roads.
At just 47,000-miles, this is a low mileage example and whilst it is not uncommon for cars with low mileage to lack a fully stamped service book, it is more than made up for in this case with a documented history folder of the car and its four owners in Ireland including some significant work!
In 2016, this Carrera 3.2 underwent a full bare metal, body restoration in the hands of its next owner, who wanted to take it back to showroom condition. The work is documented in full photographic detail and stands up well today. Indeed it even comes with a few ‘Best in show’ awards.
The dark Marine Blue interior was also restored and the Sports seats in particular, present well. Other interior highlights include the original Blaupunkt Toronto head-unit, and optional High-Fidelity Package of amp and eight speaker system. Cutting edge stuff in 1988 and perfect for playing your favourite Simply Red tapes. A Momo Prototipo steering wheel has been fitted, but the original comes with the car, too.
The car left Northern Ireland in 2020, bound for the mainland and its current owner. While in bodily excellent condition, a general lack of use meant that there was plenty of recommissioning required. As such air-cooled experts, Autofarm, were tasked with refreshing and reanimating this Carrera. A substantial bill for £13,000 is testimony to the lengths they went to and finally, for further reassurance, a top-end engine rebuild will be carried out as part of the sale.
ON THE ROAD
The last of the Carrera 3.2s, the last of the G-Series 911s before the arrival of the 964. It’s all about progress, but its 911 soul is still very much all there. The balance, the swagger, the rear digging in, as the front goes light, the tactile steering, decisive and quick-shifting G50 ‘box, the Carrera 3.2 has it all in a package that’s still everyday useable should you desire.
IN SUMMARY
What more can we say? Desirable spec, desirable model. Perhaps the definitive air-cooled 911 and at a price that is eminently reasonable in the classic Porsche world. Please call to discuss should you have any further questions. We are happy to help.
