EXTERIOR
The short bonnet G series chassis will forever remain a hallmark of automotive design and this fantastic non-sunroof example presents in the desirable Silver Metallic with offset ‘Negative’ Carrera graphics. This MFI has been subject to a recent comprehensive cosmetic overhaul whilst in Portugal and remains in lovely condition having been restored over a 7 year period between 2014 – 2021.
With such a small footprint compared to modern machinery the balance of bodywork colour, dark trim and chrome accents is both simple and effective.
Black trim is in good order throughout and it’s the same story for the contrasting brightwork to the lone driver’s mirror, headlamp surrounds and quite delightful staggered Fuchs.
INTERIOR
The Black leatherette upholstery presents fresh and clean having recently been attended to; with an unusual Sports seat for driver, Comfort seat for passenger combination.
Perforated headlining, Dash top and door cards are tight and clean whilst the carpet set has excellent fit and finish. The rear bench is especially tidy; perfect for the occasional trip ‘4-up’.
Optional equipment includes the period-correct Blaupunkt AM/FM stereo and a heated screen with wiper.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The flat 6 sits in fine order and performs strongly with that distinctive bark synonymous with MFI units. With a new throttle body and fuel pump courtesy of Carrera Performance the car is running beautifully.
The engine is completely dry and presents in excellent cosmetic order.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The renowned Fuchs wheels are staggered fitment with wider rears from new, showing wonderfully well with a polished lip wrapped in excellent Goodyear rubber.
Brakes perform as they should with no adverse pitch or pull.
