The three fascinating Porsche numbers “911” already raise the pulse.

The softwindow rear window was only produced in the Targa’s early years.
Surviving originals, like this Targa offered, are extremely rare these days and very popular among collectors.
This offered 1968 911 L softwindow Targa was produced at Porsche on December 1, 1967 and is therefore still a short wheelbase (SWB = shortwheelbase). A total of only 121 examples of this model were built.

According to the factory delivery data card, the engine number matches, so the original engine is still installed and wears “matching numbers”, and the 5-speed transmission is a period correct type.
See the owner’s description here:
“This exceptional car, originally delivered to America, has been fantastically restored to extremely high standards, complete with original parts, and is presented in one of the era’s signature signal reds with black soft top and black leather interior. The well-appointed interior benefits from the “S” instrumentation and equipment package and also features a modern stereo system for today’s driving pleasure. Mechanically, the clutch, transmission and engine have been overhauled and, sensibly, fitted with a hydraulic chain tensioner. After the overhaul, the vehicle has run only a few 1000 km. All fluids have been changed. The car runs fantastic, it drives, brakes and shifts perfectly.
The condition of the car is at showroom level; it is provided with its full (maintenance) history.”
The engine starts right up and runs very smooth and the gearbox does its precisely job.
Watching the car all over, it is a solid and good restaurated car, showing no troubles.
