1965 PORSCHE 356 SC CABRIOLET

In December 1964, Jack Keyes collected his new 356 SC Cabriolet from Metro Motors, the Porsche dealer in Seattle. It was specially ordered in Togo Brown with Fawn upholstery and equipped with headrests, Coco mats, chrome wheels, a Nardi steering wheel, and Blaupunkt radio. Mr. Keyes enjoyed the Porsche until 1970, when he sold it to Roger Day, a Metro Motors salesman. In 1981, Mr. Keyes considered purchasing a new Porsche, but instead opted to buy his old SC Cabriolet back from Mr. Day. In his second chapter of ownership, Mr. Keyes reconditioned the 356, displayed it at concours and marque gatherings along the West Coast, and wrote an article about his unique experience with the car, published in Porsche Spiel, the PCA Pacific Northwest Region newsletter. In 2011, Mr. Keyes treated his prized 356 to a sensitive restoration that preserved many of its well-kept original features, including much of the interior. He retained the car until 2016, and the following year, this much-loved Porsche joined Ken Roath’s collection.

Today, the 356 SC retains its original numbered body panels and matching-numbers engine, as confirmed by factory records. A tool kit, owner’s manual, and literature accompany the car, along with an impressive documentation file that includes a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, copies of the original Kardex, sales records, articles, and service ledger dating back to 1970. A superbly presented and ideally specified SC Cabriolet with a charming, well-documented provenance, this 356 is sure to impress the most discerning Porsche collector.
