The vehicle in detail

Per the Porsche Kardex, ownership history can be traced back to 1965. Roy Laster reportedly sold the 356 to Mark Holderman in October of 1991. By 1998, the 356 was sold to Dave Aase of Aase Bros. in Galena, Ohio, and then sold to Ron Thomas in 2012. Under Mr. Thomas’ ownership, the 356 was serviced by Autobahn Extremist LLC in Rocky River, Ohio, where over $25,000 was spent performing the following: 1720cc big bore engine rebuild, the braking system was rebuilt along with the suspension, and fuel system. It was then sold to an owner in Arizona before coming to California in 2020 to the current owner. On July 15, 2023, this 356C Coupe was prepared for the 36th Annual 356 Club of Southern California Concours d’Elegance, where it scored 215.5 out of 225 points in the C Closed Street division class.

The paintwork is in exceptional condition, showcasing beautiful chrome, rubber seals, and bright work. To protect the paintwork, a protective 3M clear bra has been applied to the front nose, fenders, and bonnet. The interior features a Nardi wooden steering wheel, Coco mats, VDO instrumentation, a working clock, and a Porsche radio delete plate. The chrome wheels are 4.5” x 15” in the front and 5.5″ x 15″ in the rear and are mounted to Michelin XZX 165 SR15 tires. The undercarriage is solid and rust-free.

Mechanically powered by a “big-bore” 1720cc flat-four engine (Type 616-15) with a 4-speed manual transmission (Type 741) and a four-wheel disc braking system. The current owner has installed a new Optima battery, a correct Bosch 022 distributor, an electric fuel pump, a Joe Leoni headlight, and starter relays were also added for brighter headlights, and the tail lights, turn signals, and brake lights were upgraded with LEDs. Complete with the Porsche Kardex, recent service records, tool kit, battery tender, jack, and spare wheel. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a sought-after 356C with disc brakes and a powerful engine that is finished in its original color combination.
