Story
We reimported this vehicle to Germany on August 28, 1996.
An engine overhaul of the matching numbers engine was carried out in 1997 by Classic Power in Schorndorf. At the same time, a conversion to a 2-circuit brake system and a stainless steel rear silencer was carried out.
Countless invoices from the last 28 years testify to the proper care that the owner gave the car. Regular lubrication, maintenance and fluid changes were carried out.
Unfortunately, the air conditioning stopped working in 1999 and was thrown out of the vehicle at that time due to the disproportion between the costs and benefits of the repair. Fortunately, we were able to get the exact same air conditioning system again and are currently taking care of the repairs in order to be able to revive this special feature. You can read a lot about the extensive breakdown of the individual components of the air conditioning system in the attached document.
Over time, this car has taken part in many rallies and 356 meetings in Europe. The venues were Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Denmark and Austria. Participation in the “Tazio Nuvolari” also took place in a total of 5 different years.
Condition
Admittedly, the 60 years have left their mark a little. But the substance of the car is still impressive today – hardly any welding, little rust and a lot of original sheet metal. Only the battery base was replaced at the end of the 1990s. All add-on parts are still original. Luckily, because the car has not yet been fully restored despite its age. With values between 300 and 700 µm, the paint layer thicknesses are all within the acceptable range for refinishing and exclude coarse filler and tin work.
The last customer service was extensive and took place in 2021 for a total price of around 5,000 euros. The car has a current general inspection and, depending on the weather, is available for a comprehensive inspection and test drive. The buyer and seller decide together on any work that may need to be carried out before delivery. However, there is only a need for action for visual reasons and depending on the buyer's taste – there is nothing wrong with the technology.
