During the 15 years of production of the 356 in Stuttgart factories, just over 5,000 units were set up per year, with a maximum peak of 10000 units reached in 1964, the most successful year of 356 C. The C’s bodywork was produced either directly by Porsche or by the external supplier Reutter, as evidenced by the tag under the hinges of the guide-side door.
All production of the 356 generation was also available in convertible version (Cabriolet, Speedster or Convertible D).
The 356 C was the most mature version of the Porsche dynasty: fast, powerful, comfortable, well-built, and easy to drive.
The disc brakes, introduced in 1963 in the C version, also brought new rims with chrome caps more profiled due to the different hubs used.
1 of the 1688 Porsche 356 C Cabriolets produced, chassis no. 159444 has Reutter bodywork and engine No. P730656 type 616/15.
Built in 1963, it has all the characteristics of the 356 C built from that year.
