The paintwork is in excellent overall condition along with a stunning tan interior. Currently finished in the original exterior color Ruby Red with a complete new Tan interior that has been recently installed including the front and rear seats, dash cover and door panels, German square weave carpets, a complete black soft top with a new pad, headliner, and a boot cover. Options include a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio, dash-mounted VDO clock, amperage, and oil pressure gauges.
An engine out service has been performed, including a valve adjustment, all the fluids were changed, the carburetors and distributor were dialed in, and all the steel metal and fan shroud were powder coated. The braking system has been completely rebuilt with all new wheel cylinders, brake lines, master cylinder, and brake shoes installed, and the brake drums have been turned. The undercarriage is solid and rust-free, a complete undercarriage detail was performed, the floor pans and suspension components were stripped to steel, German undershoot was applied to the undercarriage and the suspension was professionally detailed. New Vredestein Sprint Classic 165 HR 15 tires have been installed, and mounted to 15” chrome wheels and chrome Super hubcaps.
Mechanically, this matching air-cooled, flat-four 1.6-liter Suprt-90 engine (Type 616/7), produces 90 horsepower at 5,500 rpm with 98 lbs. ft. torque at 5,500 rpm. When compared to the 60hp Normal, and 75hp of the Super, the S90 was the best choice of its time. The manual 4-speed (Type 714) shifts smoothly up and down with no issues with a four-wheel hydraulic drum braking system that stops the car straight.
