A newly acquired Porsche Classic consignment, this rare and original Super 90 Roadster is among the best.
Presented and finished in its original Ivory White (6004) over Red Leatherette, this 356 boasts the highest performance engine available in a Roadster, the desirable Super 90. It is though that a very small percentage of all Roadsters featured the Super 90 engine.
This Porsche was ordered new by a gentleman who resided in the city of San Mateo, California through Georg Rittersbacher Sportwagen in Kaiserslautern, Germany. The car was fitted with reclining seats, an ashtray and lighter, antenna and two loudspeakers, UKW wipers, additional sunvisor with makeup mirror and fittings for a headrest.
The factory Kartex documents service work performed by Rittersbacher into 1962, indicating that perhaps the first owner was stationed abroad during his first year of ownership.
This numbers matching car benefits from an older, yet arguably high end restoration during its prior, long term ownership. Purportedly a California car for most of its life, this Roadster offers many clues supporting that it has always been a very sound and well cared for example. Furthermore, a recent compression test is available for review which shows strong and even compression.
The Roadster was upgrade with a twin-grill rear engine lid, though a correct single grill unit is available. Outfitted with the rare seat cushion, this Super 90 Roadster is presented in its stunning original color scheme.
Visual inspection reveals very good paint, body gaps, glass, chrome, rubber, and correct interior and engine bay – all in good to excellent condition.
