During the restoration, the car was fitted with options and improvements with the aim of taking part in the most demanding rallies. However, great importance was also attached to originality and aesthetics.
During the restoration, the interior was fitted with sports seats, a roll cage and, among other things, a Nardi steering wheel. A double USB port, reading light and, above all, the installation of the trip master make the car immediately ready for rally use.
Nevertheless, this is also simply a beautiful 356 in its purest form: the Cibie headlights and the "clean" front section without a bumper with the blue stripes make you stand up – in a positive way.
The rear is also attractive, nothing disturbs the distinctive curves. The extra rear headlight also serves as license plate light. The double-flow exhaust system gives you goosebumps, both visually and acoustically.
In 2019, this example was transferred to the exceptional collection of a Porsche and rally enthusiast in southern Germany, who is a participant and driver of the Mille Miglia and Monte Carlo, among other things. The vehicle was regularly driven and serviced by a specialist company.
The engine produces 90 hp according to the test bench and the gearbox also runs perfectly, thanks to the efforts of the responsible maintenance company, which specializes in air-cooled Porsches. In addition to ongoing service work on the vehicle, extensive maintenance was carried out there so that the car is in a technically operational and reliable condition. The last time it successfully took part in a rally was in 2024. The vehicle has a current road registration with an H license plate.
Conclusion: This Porsche 356 B 1600 S was delivered as a rare Karmann Hardtop Coupe in 1963 and offers the opportunity to acquire not only a perfect rally car, but also simply an incredibly attractive specimen that is just as suitable for exciting trips and mountain passes.
