In 1960 the 356 B “roadster” convertible replaced the D model but the sports car market’s love affair with top-down motoring was fading; soft-top 356 model sales declined significantly in the early 1960s making the B-Roadster a pretty rare car in today’s market with only 473 produced in 1961.
This lovely S-Roadster has been in California until 2010, when it was imported back to Germany by the current owner.
The car is a wonderful example which had enjoyed a single ownership in California for more than 40 years. In the late 90’s it was treated to a cosmetic restoration including a bare metal re-spray to original specifications. At the time it was also mechanically refreshed including new windshield seals, transmission, clutch, suspension and brakes.
This beautiful D’Iteren built B-Roadster is numbers matching with original Kardex card, but lost its original engine over 30 years ago. The original engine #89367 has been replaced with engine # 89338, just a few numbers apart.
The current owner bought this Roadster in 2010 and imported it back to Germany to be part of his collection. The condition of the restoration is still amazing and the car looks, runs and drives perfect. The car is registered and licensed in Germany.
It comes with a full tonneau cover and original manuals, spare and jack.
