This Porsche 356 B 1600 Cabriolet was completed on 7 November 1960 according to the Porsche data card and certificate of authenticity (Porsche “birth certificate”). It was then delivered via the well-known importer Max Hoffman to its first owner in the USA. The original colour scheme was royal blue (6012) with leather upholstery in black (B). The eqeipment ex works included a luggage rack with fastening straps, radio with speakers and antenna, and a second exterior mirror. The first owner (name known) in 1960 was resident in Los Angeles, California. Later, the car moved to an owner (name known) in Blue Springs, Missouri. In 2001, the 356 Cabriolet went to another ownership (name known) in Victoria, British Columbia, in Canada.
Five years later, the car then returned to Europe and probably had two more owners in the Netherlands (2006 and 2017, names known). The vehicle has been extensively restored with body work and new paint as well as engine overhaul including optimisation/power increase to “Super 90” specification. In 2017, the Porsche was sold to its current owner in Hamburg via Eberhard Thiesen. In the course of this, the engine received another comprehensive overhaul at a specialist workshop in Hamburg. An invoice of EUR 18,000 is available for this work. Under the current owner, further technical and optical work worth around EUR 30,000 has also been invested in this sports car. These include, among other things installation of a power interrupter as anti-theft device, underbody and cavity sealing, overhaul of rev counter and speedometer, ignition coil and oil temperature sensor renewed, overhaul and installation of a radio Blaupunkt Frankfurt, completely new saddler interior with vintage nappa leather head-dyed and new seat upholstery, bouclé carpet in black/grey and new soft top interior headlining in original grey fabric, paintwork on the windscreen frame in the colour of the car, paint grain sanded, polished, waxed and sealed. In addition, in 2020 the Solex carburettors were completely overhauled (Stehmann carburettor technology) and newly adjusted (Ron Noll, Aircooled) and a new starter motor was installed.
