According to the paperwork Mr. Johnson has owned this 356 since 1970, and has been in Anaheim, Merced, and Bakersfield, California over the past 5 decades. The receipts indicate that Mr. Johnson maintained the car with local Porsche independents in Orange, California for three decades before it was put into long-term storage. From 1998-2023, the 356 was stored in a dry garage and was preserved until found in Bakersfield, California. Once the 356 arrived at our facility, we found it to be incredibly straight with all its original components intact. The front hood, both doors and the rear decklid all have the original “85” stampings. The gas tank and seat brackets are date-coded and are original to the car. The interior is complete with VDO instrumentation, seats, door panels, a Nardi steering wheel, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio. Equipped with 4 ½” x 15” chrome Lemmerz wheels with Avon Radial tires. The undercarraige is all original and will need the battery box floor and rear floor pan replaced.
Mechanically, the project is complete with its matching Normal 1600cc engine, manual 4-speed transmission (Type 644), and four-wheel drum braking system. Complete with the factory Kardex, registration cards from 1972-1997, spare tire, California title (pink slip), and 53 years of service records. An incredible opportunity to acquire a very complete 356A project with its original driveline.
