The Porsche 997 GT3 RS MK1 was introduced in 2006 as a radical version of the 997 GT3. Heir to the RS (Rennsport) model lineage, it is designed for track use while remaining road-legal. Taking up the spirit of the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 and the previous 996 GT3 RS, it is distinguished by an extreme approach focused on lightness and performance.
The exclusivity of the 997 GT3 RS is based on intensive weight reduction and specific distinctive elements. It adopts a wider chassis for better stability and also benefits from lightweight materials, including a carbon bonnet and spoiler, as well as a polycarbonate rear window. Its iconic Orange colour with black stripes or vice versa, as well as its lightweight forged alloy wheels, reinforce its aggressive look. Inside, the atmosphere is resolutely sporty with bucket seats, a partial roll cage and optional harnesses.
Under the bonnet, the 997 GT3 RS MK1 is powered by a 3.6-litre naturally aspirated flat-six developing 415 hp at 7,600 rpm and 405 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. Thanks to its contained weight of 1,375 kg, it reaches 60 mph in 4.2 seconds for a top speed of 193 mph. The six-speed manual gearbox and the sharp chassis with specific PASM shock absorbers offer formidable driving precision. Its dynamic behavior and its DNA from motorsport make it a reference among sports cars of the time, both on the road and on the track.
