Model history
The seventh generation of the Porsche 911, known as the 991, was introduced on September 15, 2011 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, replacing the previous model, the 997. The development of the 991 marked the introduction of a completely new platform, which was only the third of its kind in the history of the 911 – after the original introduction in 1963 and the platform of the 996 from 1999. A total of 233,540 examples of this generation were produced by the end of production on December 20, 2019.
