However popular, the model will never become a grey mouse. Not even when the bodywork is coloured Arktissilber metallic. The signature comes into its own extremely powerfully and thanks to a recent detailing the exterior is almost indistinguishable from new. Unlike other 996s from the 1990s, the turn signals are white all around and the wide-set 18″ Turbo-look rims fill the wheel arches perfectly, thanks to new shock absorbers and lowered suspension from AST Suspension. In the interior, we find only high-quality materials, including the popular 3-spoke steering wheel, a Premium Sound system from Harmann and extensive PCM infotainment. Contrast can be found in the Arktissilber center console, aluminum finish and white clocks. Where it is customary today to personalize certain elements when ordering a new Porsche, in this case the buyer has gone very far to put together his/her ideal 911 down to the smallest detail.
The optional sports or shell seats sit like a glove, are manually adjustable and heated. Comfort is also provided by Climate Control with air conditioning, Cruise Control, on-board computer, electric convertible top and windows, heated and adjustable mirrors, shifting option on the steering wheel, power steering and a wind deflector. In terms of infotainment, the original Porsche Communication System has been installed, including CD changer and telephone.
There are two full-fledged seats in the back with three-point seat belts. In 2020, the exhaust system was modified with new stainless steel silencers from Dansk, which makes the 911 sound louder, especially at higher revs. Track spacers and longer GT3 bolts have been installed to improve road holding.
This Porsche has a new price of € 126,033 and was initially produced for the German market, but was ultimately delivered new in the Netherlands. A total of nine private owners passed by, with the caveat that it has only driven 13,000 km in the past 7 years, the car was suspended in winter and always stored indoors. Maintenance was carried out by dealers until 2009, then by specialists. The last owner since April 2023 recently traded it in for a BMW i8, which allowed us to add this unique 911 Cabrio to the collection. There is a small crack in the plastic rear window, but it is waterproof. Under the heading ‘documents’ on our website you will find detailed photos of the documentation. All electronics work properly. The engine sounds silky smooth [without smoke development] even when starting cold and the automatic transmission shifts smoothly. The air conditioning cools down quickly. The history is accident-free. The MOT will be renewed before delivery.
Maintenance was recorded at 20,235km [1-11-1999], 43,205km [20-7-2001], 54,931km [5-3-2002], 62,360km [30-8-2002], 81,702km [21-8-2003], 91,483km [5-10-2005], 99,528km [5-3-2007], 106,343km [13-2-2008], 120,691km [16-4-2009], 174,715km [28-2-2018], 177,618km [4-2-2020], 181,675km [12-5-2022] and 187,088km [29-3-2024]. The latter concerned a minor service, including a new multi-belt. Other relevant work carried out are the condensers, the 3rd brake light, coolant expansion tank and battery [2022], fresh gearbox oil, filters, brake lines, spark plugs, oil pan, wishbones, wheel and strut bearings [2020]. The aforementioned modifications were carried out in 2018 by Service 911 in Goirle. The mounted Vredestein summer tires at the front are as good as new, at the rear they have approximately 40% profile. The brake discs and pads have at least 60% profile all around, based on the replacement interval set by Porsche. Feel free to come and have a look!
