I bought the 997 9 years ago from a businessman from his "collection". He hardly drove the car and it was kept in his garage. Before buying it, I had it checked over at the Porsche Center in Frankfurt (including a 111 point check). All services, maintenance work including necessary part replacements, etc. have always been carried out (in the Porsche Center and the last two services in the Turbogarage in Fritzlar http://www.gt2.de ). Invoices, etc. are available. Recently new shock absorbers including front strut mounts, new starter including "Y-cable". I have always looked after the 997, never drove it in winter. New MOT/Au, all original parts present (removal of springs/silencer at approx. 80,000 km) aluminum strut brace at the front. The 997 has always been in the garage and is connected to the battery monitor.
The air conditioning is currently not working. I had it checked and only the two air conditioning condensers at the front are broken. It never bothered me, it is a convertible after all.
