This rare 968 Cabriolet is undoubtedly one of the best currently for sale. Carefully maintained and fully serviced at Porsche, this car offers a unique opportunity for the true enthusiast.
The Porsche 968 Cabriolet is unique for several reasons, with a number of features that set the model apart from other classic Porsches:
1. Last in the line of transaxle Porsches
The 968 was the last model in Porsche's "transaxle" series (924, 944 and 928), with the engine at the front and the transmission at the rear, providing near-perfect weight distribution and excellent handling characteristics. This gives the car exceptional balance, particularly when driving on winding roads.
2. Unique engine design
The 968 has a 3.0-liter four-cylinder engine, one of the largest four-cylinder engines in a production car. With an output of 240 hp, it was one of the most powerful four-cylinders of its time. Combined with variable valve timing (VarioCam) and a smooth manual transmission, this makes the 968 Cabriolet a special driving experience.
3. Production numbers and rarity
In total, only 4,242 Porsche 968 Cabriolets were produced worldwide between 1992 and 1995. This makes the convertible version relatively rare, especially compared to the coupe version. Combined with the popular manual transmission, this example is particularly popular with collectors and enthusiasts.
4. Stylish and timeless design
The design of the 968 combines elements of the Porsche 944 with a taste of future 911 models. The 'pop-up' headlights and flowing lines give the car a timeless character, while the open roof of the convertible adds an extra dimension of driving fun.
5. Comfort and ease of use
Despite its sporty character, the 968 Cabriolet also offers the comfort and luxury you would expect from Porsche. The car is suitable for daily use, but only really comes into its own on beautiful sunny days and open roads.
The combination of rarity, driving characteristics and classic Porsche quality makes the 968 Cabriolet a sought-after collector's item and a real "driver's car".
