For those who were unable to purchase one of the “original” Carrera RS 2.7s in 1972/73, the G model with the same 210 hp engine was offered until mid-1976. These 911s were also only available in small numbers and are therefore rarer than the original Carrera RS. A total of 1,633 G-Model 2.7s were built.
1976 models are particularly popular and sought after because the body has already been partially galvanized. At the start of the G series in autumn 1973, the new 911 Carrera with the drive of the original RS continued to be the top performer among the series Porsches.
