The vehicle in detail

Porsche & TAG Heuer, two brands with a historic partnership in motorsports, came together to design an exclusive car project: the 718 GT4 RS Carrera Panamericana Special.
This unique sports car is based on the 718 Cayman GT4 RS, an uncompromising Porsche featuring lightweight construction, exceptional agile chassis tuning, and sophisticated aerodynamics.

With skilled craftsmanship and attention to detail, Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur created two nearly identical models, numbers 152 & 154, as a homage to the legendary Mexican road race, La Carrera Panamericana.
Historic racing number 152, painted on the doors and roof, is just one of the many details in which this sports car takes inspiration from the 550 Coupé—the Porsche that won its class in the 1953 edition of La Carrera Panamericana.

Team Up to Make History.

It is no coincidence that “Carrera” is synonymous with sports car. La Carrera Panamericana was once known as the most challenging endurance race in the world. And Porsche saw an opportunity to leave its mark on Mexican soil.

In 1953, two customer teams, each with a Porsche 550 Coupé, took part in the spectacular Carrera Panamericana. It was the first model from Porsche specifically designed to compete in races. And it did just that by winning its class. 70 years later, the 718 GT4 RS Carrera Panamericana Special was constructed to pay tribute to that triumphant 550 Coupé.

Two nearly identical models of the 718 GT4 RS Carrera Panamericana Special, numbered 152 & 154 after the original 1953 racing teams, were built in the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur in Zuffenhausen. Number 154 was driven by Porsche enthusiast and U.S. actor, Patrick Dempsey, in the 2023 edition of the race and remains in Porsche’s museum collection in Stuttgart. However, the one-of-a-kind number 152 did not compete in the race and is currently up for auction.

History is in the details.

It is in Zuffenhausen where Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur creates its most exclusive, unique sports cars with a combination of skilled craftsmanship and attention to detail. Various design elements of the 718 GT4 RS Carrera Panamericana Special reference the connection to the Mexican road race.

– On the outside, racing number 152 is painted onto the doors and roof of the car. In the interior, the Guards Red leather of the seats creates an eye-dazzling contrast with the black of the dashboard and the door panel trim. – One brilliant detail is the tricolored cross-stitching in the colors of the Mexican flag and the TAG Heuer logo. The steering wheel, rim and dashboard have green, white, and red stitching. – The ‘GT4 RS Panamericana Special’ lettering is milled into the door entry guards and printed on the cup-holder panel on the passenger side. – The experts at Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur stitched two important elements of the Carrera Panamericana logo into the headrests of the seats: the lettering and the stylized racing driver cap. The latter also appears on the valve caps. – A TAG Heuer logo is embossed on the armrest between the driver and the passenger. – Patrick Dempsey’s signature nestled under the fuel door.

718 for a reason.

Regarding performance, this Porsche pulls no punches. The 718 GT4 RS Carrera Panamericana Special is based on the 718 Cayman GT4 RS-a sports car with lightweight construction, exceptionally agile chassis tuning, and sophisticated aerodynamics, similar to its 550 Coupé inspiration.

A Porsche like no other.

When Ferdinand Porsche couldn’t find the sports car he wanted, he built it himself. His legacy lives on through sports cars like this one. The 718 GT4 RS Carrera Panamericana Special is truly a one-of-a-kind “Sonderwunsch” work of art. The attention to detail, design, and craftsmanship shines through every inch of this vehicle. And will never be duplicated. The historical significance represents the beginning of when Porsche decided to build race cars to compete around the world. Therefore, to own the 718 GT4 RS Carrera Panamericana Special is to own a defining chapter of Porsche history. This opportunity cannot be missed by any collector who wishes to add an immortalized legacy to their collection.

Our intention is for the exceptional Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Carrera Panamericana Special to transcend beyond the racetracks. Therefore, a portion of the funds raised in the auction will benefit Mexican families through the social foundations TECHO, Make-A-Wish, and World Vision.
