We are excited to offer on behalf of one of our clients, this very special “Kremer” 1972 Porsche 911 Targa.
For many years, 2shores has been offering selected, finest grade examples of collectible automobiles. This unique Kremer Targa is one of those examples!
The 1972 Porsche 911 is perhaps the most collectable of the early long hood cars, a one year only production with the oil filler on the outside of the body and features the most potent 2.4l engine of the long hood production.
Our car was sold new in September of 1972 at Volkswagen Pacific to John Macfarlane, an avid Porsche fan and the driving force behind the first PCA chapter in Canada.
John was looking for a little more power in his 911T Targa and ordered a “hot” 911 engine from Kremer in Germany in 1975. A few words about Kremer.
Kremer Racing is a motorsports team based in Cologne, Germany, founded by racing driver Erwin Kremer and his brother Manfred. They have competed internationally with Porsches for nearly all of their existence, and were even one of the factory-backed squads for many years. Besides running Porsches, the team was also known for their tuned Porsche race cars that they both raced and sold to other teams who could not gain the best equipment from the factory.
The Kremer company still exists today and is highly regarded for their competence and experience in engine building!
The original invoice from Kremer to John is still with this car today and states that the engine used was a 2.0l 911S from 1969 with all internals changed to 2.4lS specs. The engine was dyno’d at 210hp and the horse power rating is also documented in today’s German paperwork for the car.
A very strong and spirited car indeed.
This vehicle has had only two owners in Canada before it came to the current owner and collector in Germany. Here, it has been part of a private, fine Porsche collection.
The total mileage is 64177 as of the time of this listing and the car just passed the ever so stringent German TuV inspection with flying colors.
Finished in original signal yellow, this is a stunning 1972 Targa with a very potent engine and some exciting history. This Porsche has been featured numerous times in Canadas Timberline PCA Newsletter. A fascinating and well known car in the 911 circles of North America.
The car comes with all documentation from new, a full appraisal from Germany (2020) and many spare parts. It is fully sorted and ready to go!
A very rare opportunity to acquire a period 911 hotrod with a fascinating story and an engine done by one of the best in the industry.
