In August 2023, the Cup vehicle underwent a major service. Among other things, a pressure loss test was carried out during the engine inspection with a positive result, the spring plates were replaced with racing spring plates as a precaution (there was a recall from Porsche in the early 90s) and the valves were adjusted. All fluids such as engine oil with filter, transmission oil and brake fluid changed, spark plugs replaced, distributor cap and fingers replaced and the axle geometry was measured and adjusted to the 18 inch wheels, setting chosen for track days.
The original old vehicle registration document is available.

One of the milestones in the model history of the 911 type 964 is undoubtedly the M001 cup version for the fastest one-make cup in the world.
Porsche veteran Herbert Linge was in charge of the planning.
The Carrera Cup, initially intended only for Germany, replaced the 944 turbo Cup in 1990 and was an immediate success.
The expansion to further national championships and the international Supercup were logical consequences. 33 Cup seasons have now been held, now with the current 992 GT3 Cup.
Cup 964s from the first four years, in which 360 examples were produced, have become rare and are a topic for collectors who are looking for something exclusive.
The previous owner of this vehicle, who is active in historic motorsport, also recognized this when he discovered an untouched example in the Lake Constance region, which was delivered to Italy in 1991 as a reserve car for a Porsche Cup team and was then immediately passed on to a private owner .
The only catch: it was too good to drive…
On the one hand, the M001 inspected and delivered in “Indian red” was flawless in every respect. But its owner didn't really seem to want to sell, but after a long time to think about it, he reported that he had ordered a new GT3 and signaled his willingness to talk.
The deal ultimately came about to the satisfaction of everyone involved.
Not much is known about possible deployments in Italy or neighboring Switzerland. Vehicle documents from a national sports commission such as the ONS or its successor organization DMSB were not handed over at the handover.
The new general condition suggests that there were no missions at all. Accordingly, none can have been recorded.
The rest of the sports career of this cup version was also discreet. The substance was simply too good for starting in the Porsche Classic Car Kumho Trophy.
In 2007, a year after the takeover, the vehicle was registered all year round.
A trip to the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix at the Nürburgring went down in the annals as the longest route. “You have to get straight to the point – the original Cup chassis is clearly set up too hard for the road,” the background noise in the cleared out interior is annoying: “There are two seats in the car, which is what I want on long stretches of the motorway I can talk to my companion. You can safely forget about that.”
The consequence: at the end of 2007, the 964 Cup was deregistered and stored in the collection.
