1995 PORSCHE 993 GT2 R

Built by Porsche Motorsport, production date 17.02.95 and delivered new toG-Force Racing. Solid sponsorship backing from Blue Coral (car finishing products) meant that G-Force could run this chassis as their second car in 1995 and 1996 for UK driver John Morrison to race alongside G-Force owner John Greasley.

The Speed Yellow GT2R debuted in May 1995 at the 6th round the BPR Championship at Donnington, finishing 4th and then made a season assault on the 1995 BRDC British GT Championship. For the following year the car was upgraded to run in the GT1 class. After several DNFs the team switched back to the GT2R engine.

The vehicle in detail

By 1997, G-Force Motorsports had acquired two game-changing Porsche 911 GT1s for their lead drivers, John Greasley and John Morrison, to run in British GT but continued to run ZTS393078 in the same Blue Coral livery throughout 1997 and 1998 for Nigel Barret, Mikael Gustavsson and later, Callum Lockie with backing also from ING Lease.

For the 1999 British GT Championship, PK Sport Limited then acquired the car running UK Paul Philips with Harrods sponsorship displayed on its Speed Yellow bonnet, co-driving with either Mike Youles, Robin Liddell or Caroline Lucas. A front-end accident in practice at Brands Hatch in June then retired the chassis for the remainder of the season but it was subsequently repaired and purchased by Peter Cook in 2002.

Point Preparation then ran the car for the 2003 season, with Peter Cook claiming four podiums between British GT at Brands Hatch and Porsche Open at Oulton Park and two rounds at Spa. Whilst starting to become less competitive against the new 996 GT3 RSRs the car became more and more developed with Roock Racing bodywork and RS Tuning engine and management. A couple of further wins came in 2007 in GT90s and Britcar and the car was then finally retired by Point Preparation after the Dutch Supercar Challenge in 2008.

Ownership Provenance:
1. G-Force (UK) 1995
2. PK Sport (UK) 1999
3. Current (UK) 2002

The G-Force Racing / Blue Coral team was one of the great British privateer team success stories of the 1990s – ZTS393078 is now restored to its earlier GT2R spec and famous Blue Coral livery from those golden years of the British GT Championship.

A much admired and well-raced Porsche 993 GT2, ZTS393078 would be eligible and competitive once again in the Peter Auto Endurance Racing Legends Series, inc. Le Mans Classic, or Masters Endurance Legends, also HSR Daytona and Sebring.
