While the early history is unknown, this 356 had a comprehensive restoration done by Vince Bobba in 2015. The restoration was accomplished through the craftsmanship and talent of many local California specialists. Auto’s International did the upholstery work. Palo Alto Speedometer restored the VDO gauges, and Victor Miles did all the brightwork to a Concour level. Vic Skirmants rebuilt the transmission with new synchros, gaskets, and seals. The engine was balanced, blueprinted, and reassembled with the proper components, and the sheet metal and hardware were detailed to the original factory finish.
Today, the paintwork is in immaculate condition with excellent gaps and panel fit. The exterior brightwork, Sigla glass, rubber seals, and trim are in impeccable condition. The front bonnet and deck lid both feature “465” stamping in the factory locations. Additional date-coded items include the fuel tank, fuel-sending unit, and chrome seat brackets.
The Red leather upholstery is stunning with German square weave carpets, a VDM 2-spoke steering wheel, VDO gauges, Coco mats, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio. The chrome 15 x 4½” Lemmerz wheels are mounted to Vredestein Sprint Classic 165 HR15 tires with baby moon chrome hubcaps.
Mechanically, powered by the matching 1600cc Normal engine producing 60 horsepower paired to the matching manual 4-speed transmission (Type 644) with a four-wheel hydraulic braking system. Complete with tool kit, jack, Lemmerz spare wheel, trickle charger, Porsche Kardex, and service records.
