The vehicle in detail

A factory United States-market example, this remarkably original 911 S Targa was sold to its first owner via Irmer Porsche Audi of East Rochester, New York on 8 July 1976. A resident of Canandaigua, New York, the car’s first owner is reported to have kept his 911 on a meticulous service regimen which included use only during the summer months in order to spare his beloved Targa from Western New York’s notorious winters. Accompanying service invoices from the late 1970s fascinatingly document the car’s maintenance at Irmer Porsche Audi, which included regular tune-ups and New York State inspections.

The Targa reportedly remained with the original owner until 1999, when it passed to another Western New York enthusiast who continued the car’s fastidious care. The White Collection acquired the car from the second owner in 2013 and maintained its pampered life, with monthly turns starting the car and running it to operating temperature.
Now presented in its factory-original finishes of Grand Prix White (R4) over Russett Leather trim with Red Tartan Dress Inserts (22), this 911 S Targa certainly ranks among the most well-preserved and well-documented Porsches of its era. Per its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, the car importantly retains its numbers-matching engine and transmission and was factory-optioned with forged alloy wheels shod in Dunlop tires and a 380-millimeter sport steering wheel. The car is further accompanied by a slew of service invoices dating to the 1970s, original warranty and maintenance book, tool roll, and assortment of spare parts.
Offered in a captivatingly original state, this numbers-matching engine and gearbox-equipped 1976 911 S Targa is sure to be a deeply appreciated addition to any collection of fine automobiles.
