Set yourself the task of searching for a lime-yellow Porsche 911 Carrera in all known platforms of the current market.
You will find a coupe that found its way back to Germany via Japan.
One single coupe. That’s it. We only used the 1983-1989 filter in our search. No body style like convertible, targa or coupe – default. Also no minimum power of 170kW to at least halfway take the less popular engine types with lower power with catalytic converter out of the race. As I said, just simply all G models between 83 and 89.
One single coupe.
We were just allowed to welcome an “old acquaintance” in our house, which we handed over 13 years ago with a heavy heart into the hands of its new owner. At the time, we found it difficult to do so because of its unconditional reference characteristics. At that time – as today – this Carrera Cabriolet had and still has pretty much ALL the qualities we would wish for when looking for a classic Porsche. Starting with its rather unique color (insiders speak of a total of 9 cars built in lime yellow from the factory), its grace of late birth i, March 1988. (From model year 87, the newly developed G50 transmission was installed). Thus the 11er became clearly more “socially acceptable” and was driven from this drastic model care also by inexperienced drivers with pleasure. Finally, however, mainly because of its original equipment without catalytic converter with the high-compression 930/20 drive (the first owner from Gelsenkirchen proved with it very large farsightedness!), and the choice of the two “turbo” seats, which are still today from our view the best choice for a classical Porsche of the 80s and 90s.
Now we come, however, apart from all points mentioned above, which make this Cabriolet on the basis of the bundling of its highly sought-after characteristics in itself already unique, to the most substantial fact: Without exception ALL mentioned plus points, which collected themselves this rather solitary Porsche up to here, become only the main prize in the lottery, if he was allowed to mature over 35 years in such a way, as we present and describe him here.
The first delivery took place in the Porsche Center Dortmund in March 1988.
In the middle of 2005 the vehicle was brought home to the Swabian Rems valley, where the company schaertl-racing took care of the Porsche comprehensively at the end of 2009, in order to make it fit for the next decades. For this purpose, a good-quality, accident-free convertible with 90% of its original paintwork was ready, which was given a completely overhauled engine, an overhauled gearbox, a new clutch, new brakes, a completely new exhaust system, a new cargraphic catalytic converter (174kW version), a new soft top, a new Bilstein suspension, all suspension rubbers and much more in the course of 2009 and with a mileage of around 140tkm, in order to appear in a new car-like condition again.
Today, some 20000 km in 13 years and under the best possible conditions, nothing has changed.
We are still talking about a reference Carrera Cabriolet in mint condition, completely overhauled, free of accidents and largely repainted, which really does not shy away from any comparison. For this reason, we also offer every concrete interested party the choice of a neutral expert who, with our full support of the workshop, lifting platform, etc., can get the best possible picture of the current as-is condition in order to avoid any conflict of interest.
We look forward to your call to arrange an appointment and inspection. Especially if you have already viewed some of these vehicles and have not been convinced so far. Here with us and with this lime yellow convertible your search could find a good end.
