After completion, a comprehensive expert report was drawn up, which confirmed the – actually well-behaved – 911 2.7 Coupé's grade of 2 and a market value of €85,500. Also in 2015, after restoration and rebuilding, the underbody and chassis components, which were painted in the car's color, were sealed with Dynol. In addition, the cavities were given a Dynol seal. Accordingly, the vehicle still presents itself at its best today. Its engine has a very high output. Unfortunately, we cannot provide a reason for this. But we can convey our driving impression based on experience with many similar models.
In the same way, we must stick to what we see now, here and today, and describe the current condition.
This is definitely not a collector's vehicle! Rather, we are dealing with one of the few remaining Porsche 911s that can be used without regret, because a stone chip or a dent on such a vehicle will not cause cardiac arrest. It is in perfect health and does everything a Porsche should be able to do: accelerate well, brake well, handle well and, above all, sound good, smell like a Porsche and feel like a Porsche when driving.
We have already discussed the engine.
Its strong point is undoubtedly its chassis, which was very well tuned on this first series G model. With its just over 1100 kg and the Bilstein dampers, it is a top-class corner robber, and let's be honest – isn't that exactly what makes Porsche? Who wants to race over 200 km/h in a nearly 50-year-old car on mostly busy motorways these days? The Polos and Yaris of this world can do that better… maybe even weave around corners better. Objectively speaking. But try doing that in an old, air-cooled Porsche. And listen carefully to how the engine behind you breathes in and out, takes in additional air for cooling, and sounds… it may be subjective, no question, but all this perception in an old Porsche would make even stones cry.
This is exactly how this Porsche wants to be understood. As a 48-year-old, very sprightly Porsche 911, ready for all occasions, that is not above anything. Not to roll it out of the garage for a weekly polish, but to really give it the spurs after a proper warm-up phase.
There are sports cars that can handle that, and even want to! Most of them come from Zuffenhausen.
But pay attention… there are fewer and fewer that are suitable for it.
That's one of those.
