Introduced for the 1989 model year, the 964 was the third generation of Porsche’s perennial sports car. While appearing similar to its predecessor, Porsche claimed the 964 was 85% new, retaining little from the long-lived G series besides its classic silhouette. Aerodynamic front and rear bumpers and an automatically extending rear spoiler were the most obvious exterior styling changes. Technical advances included a 247 hp, 3.6-liter, air-cooled flat-six engine, coil-over suspension, power steering, and anti-lock brakes. The 964 Carrera 4 was also the first 911 available with all-wheel drive.
Finished in special-order Velvet Red Metallic – an attractive hue only available for 1989 and 1990 – this 964 Carrera 4 is equipped with a beige leather interior, power soft-back sport seats, electric sunroof, headlight washers, and cruise control. Registering under 58,000 miles at the time of cataloguing, this Carrera 4 has been lightly “Rudyfied” with noteworthy modifications including 17″ Porsche Cup wheels, aero mirrors, Porsche Sport Classic steering wheel, yellow brake calipers, colored seat belts, and a Porsche Classic radio.
A longtime fixture in the Rudy Mancinas collection, this car comes with its original tools, spare, air compressor, and documentation exemplifying superlative care by its custodian. Quickly becoming one of the more sought-after air-cooled Porsche models due to its classic looks and engaging driving experience, this wonderful 964 Carrera 4 is ready for new adventures.
