Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet Tiptronic Arctic Silver
The Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet is a rarity in its own right. Only 3,534 examples of the Turbo Cabriolet were produced, compared to 16,965 Coupe models, highlighting its exclusive nature. This makes this Porsche not only a pleasure to drive, but also a worthwhile investment for the future, with exclusivity presumably playing a role que value retention/increase.
History and Development
The story of the 911 Turbo began in 1974, when Porsche engineers added a turbocharged engine to the iconic G model, which became known as the ‘930. This was given the now legendary wide body and large rear spoiler, with the aim of providing extra cooling for the powerful engine. The first Turbo produced 275 hp at the rear wheels, an impressive power output that, along with the lack of modern safety systems, was a real challenge to drive. This didn’t earn the car the nickname ‘widow maker’ for nothing.
Following in the footsteps of the legendary 930, 964 and 993, Porsche came out with the 996 in 1998, which stood out for its different style. The Turbo variant of the 996 followed in 2000, bringing a new dimension of power and performance.
