Manufactured from 2003 to 2005, the GT3 RS was introduced towards the end of the lifespan of the 996-generation 911. Building on the performance credentials of the existing 996 GT3, the GT3 RS was more powerful and intended for use on the race track. The RS moniker pays homage to the German-language RennSport, or “racing sport” in English, while the car’s colour-matched side decals and wheels give a nod to notable Porsche models from the past, such as the Carrera 2.7 RS of the early 1970s.
