Das Fahrzeug im Detail

Chassis No. WP0AB29982S696125

If the 996-generation 911 Turbo reassured Porsche enthusiasts after the move away from air-cooled engines, it was the 911 GT2 that set their hearts racing. The 2002 GT2 was an era-defining car for its turnkey performance. Its twin-turbocharged 462-horsepower 3.6-liter flat six sent all of its power to the rear wheels through a sporting six-speed manual transmission. Overall performance dynamics were optimized by rally legend Walter Röhrl and featured Porsche Carbon Ceramic Brakes, sports suspension, and enhanced aerodynamics. Only 355 996-generation GT2s were dispatched to the North American market, and due to its limited production, it remains a highly coveted choice for enthusiasts and collectors since its debut.

Finished in timeless Arctic Silver, the accompanying CARFAX Vehicle History Report shows that it was initially purchased via Foreign Cars Italia of Charlotte, North Carolina, in November 2004. It appears the GT2 took some time to find its first owner who kept the car until 2007. That year it would be acquired by the current owner with approximately 20,000 miles. This special car, held by the second owner for the past 17 years, was optioned with Small Arctic Silver Interior Package (E61) that featured the trim groove, central air vent mounting, switch trim, and instrument surround all painted Arctic Silver. Additional options included the shift lever and handbrake in carbon/aluminum, cruise control, and black mats with Porsche lettering. Furthermore, three “X” code exclusive options were selected: a Silver painted center console, Porsche crests embossed into the headrests, and aluminum instrument dials.

Driven like many wished they would, this 911 GT2 is offered with 28,591 miles at the time of cataloging as a two-owner example. Its clean CARFAX records a regular service history since 2002. 2023 saw two services at official dealer Porsche Austin in April and July. A subtle enhancement includes a later GT2-type carbon fiber rear wing. This two-owner GT2, one of only 184 North American examples produced for the 2002 model year, is ready to be a performance centerpiece of any collection searching for one of the ultimate road-going Porsches of its era.
