The 993 was the fourth generation of Porsche’s seminal 911 sports car. The model spawned several variants including a 4S which shared the Turbo’s wider body shell and all-wheel drive, but was powered by the naturally aspirated 3.6-liter flat-six. One of 937 models exported to North America for the 1997 model year, this Porsche 993 Carrera 4S is finished in Blue Turquoise – a radiant shade that lies on the scale between blue and green – over a black leather interior. Additional features listed on its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity included Litronic headlights, Hi-Fi sound system, rear window wiper, power and heated front seats, and a radio with CD player. Purchased by 993 enthusiast Rudy Mancinas in 2013, the Carrera 4S now presents as the epitome of “Rudyfied” modifications such as painted hardback sport seats, Bilstein PSS10 coil-over suspension, Speedline alloy wheels, colored seat belts, Turbo S-style front brake ducts with driving lights, aluminum gearshift knob and hand brake, Porsche Classic radio, and other subtle embellishments.
Frequently “driven like he stole it” but well maintained amongst Rudy Mancinas’ formidable air-cooled Porsche collection, this 993 Carrera 4S registered under 28,000 miles at the time of cataloguing and is accompanied by an extensive documentation file, including receipts and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. Considering the car’s eye-catching rare color, desirable specification, and recent provenance, this example is ready to use and will surely draw a following at any Porsche exhibition.
