In what proved to be the final generation of air-cooled 911s, Porsche introduced a series of major updates to the outgoing 964-generation car for the 1994 model year. The new model, internally designated the 993, was produced for only four short years, but quickly enamored itself in enthusiast’s hearts because of its exceptional road feel and remarkable comfort. Later cars, while ever more powerful and luxurious, don’t have quite the same ‘classic sports car’ feel the air-cooled models do.
Stylistically, the 993 is readily discernible from every 911 with its distinctive headlamps and re-contoured fenders. Increased power (which was later increased further with the ‘Varioram’ intake) and a six-speed manual (a four-speed Tiptronic automatic was also available) ensured performance was improved as well. Perhaps even more notable is the multi-link rear suspension which replaced the semi-trailing arm setup used (in various forms) since the 991’s introduction. Naturally, as the last of an era, it’s no wonder enthusiasts and collectors instantly fell in love with the 993. These cars are some of the most collectible of any 911 as much for their historical value as their driving experience and impressive refinement.
The magnificent 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet featured here is finished in stunning Arena Red Metallic over a Cashmere leather interior with a Black power-folding convertible top. This exquisite motorcar has been driven a mere 20,375 miles from new and is among one of the finest examples we’ve offered in years. I personally believe the investment potential of this gorgeous, low-mile Porsche 911 will grow beyond your imagination. Offered to the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who desires to own one of the very best!
