Introduced at the end of 2017, the 911 GT2 RS is the most powerful 911 series ever produced. For Porsche it was to push the limits of the 911 by allowing him to venture into the supercars segment. The goal will be largely achieved, the GT2 RS establishing at this time the record on the Nurburgring for a production car, with 6 minutes 47 seconds and 3 tenths, 10 seconds better than a 918 spider.
Mechanically, the plant is part of the 3.8 liters of the 911 Turbo S, passing the power of 580 to 700 hp. Like the GT2s of previous generations, it is a strict propulsion. It is considerably lightened with the use of magnesium for the pavilion, „Gorilla Glass“ for windows (material used for telephone windows and allowing 3.5 kg of lightening vs. traditional glass), a titanium silencer, …
The VMax of the GT2 RS is limited to 340 km / h and the aero elements generate up to 416 kilos of support. The GT2 RS is also equipped with steering wheels in the rear.
As an option, it could be equipped with the Weissach Pack, which saves another 30 kilos compared to a standard GT2 RS. This pack is visually recognizable thanks to the central decorative panel painted in body color on the front cover and the apparent carbon roof.
With the magnesium rims, the new 911 GT2 RS with the Weissach pack loses around 11.5 kg of weight and gains visual appeal. The bolted titanium safety cell is lighter than 12 kg compared to the steel safety cell available as an option with the Clubsport Pack. The ultra light paddles and the steering wheel crown are made of visible carbon.
