Exterior
The great advantage of a 911 in classic costume is, of course, that the basic contours come out all the better. In the 991 profile, the primal model is clearly recognizable. The round headlights, sloping roofline and flat rear end also characterize this Carrera S. However, not everything remained the same: 2 oval exhaust pipes made way for 4 round ones in brushed stainless steel. And the wheels of this version are 20-inch; they didn’t have that 57 years ago. The Anthracite Brown body color is also new, but at the same time evokes nostalgic feelings because of the typical 70s hue. Like the silver rims, the chrome window frames contrast sublimely with the stylish dark paint. Less modest are the red brake calipers. But that’s okay too, since it says something about the performance….
Interior & equipment
The 911 interior traditionally makes a tidy, no-nonsense impression. The finish has become nicer and better over the years. The Porsche interior breathes quality. It will not get boring in a hurry. Not even when just about everything is finished in black leather. In addition to the seats, the dashboard and the center console, the door panels, rear side panels and the entire tunnel console from front to back are also equipped with it. The roof lining is upholstered in black Alcantara. Indeed, half-assed work is not done in Zuffenhausen!
Other goodies come in the form of a multifunction leather steering wheel including audio and telephone controls, cruise control and seat heating. But by far the best thing is the Sport Chrono Plus package. The stopwatch on the dashboard betrays the presence of this beloved package. For the rest, you notice it mostly while driving….
Technology & performance
Everything is put on edge when the Sport Chrono Plus is activated: the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) is given a firmer damping, the brakes are more agile and the shift times of the PDK dual clutch transmission are shorter than ever. Sprinting can also be optimized in Launch Control mode. But to be able to finish the 0-100 km/h sprint within 4.3 seconds, 400 horsepower and 440 Newton meters are really needed. The atmospheric 3.8 liter 6-cylinder boxer engine is perfectly in tune and that is how it sounds! Nice and raw. Both at standstill and at top speed: 302 km/h. It is easy to see why the standard brake calipers are red…
With heartfelt greetings,
