Interior
The black leather interior of our Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet makes just as little effort to stand out. Until you realise that the full leather seats are indeed different from anything that is ’standard‘. The extensively adjustable sports seats are more than excellent and form 2 of a total of 4 seats. How realistic it is that someone will sit in the back depends entirely on how often you want to be asked if you can go for a spin… Incidentally, the finish and quality will not be lacking at all: the top of the dashboard, centre armrest, door trim; it is all fitted with high-quality leather. Black, of course. The same applies to the SportDesign steering wheel, although it has beautifully contrasting aluminium double spokes. The same aluminium is also used in the form of decorative strips on the dashboard and doors. And the finish of the tunnel console also has a high-tech feel. As wide as the sills with aluminium Carrera 4S entry mouldings are, so accessible is the character of the 991. Come aboard this beautiful convertible and rest your head against the famous Porsche weapons in the headrests. Sooner or later (rather sooner) you will come into contact with it!
Options & extras
That doesn’t stop us (far) from the options, because most of the other extras are purely focused on performance. Including Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV+) and Porsche Active Drivetrain Mounts (PADM) – also known as dynamic engine mounts. A Sport Chrono Pack Plus is of course also indispensable, because why wouldn’t you want to clock a lap time yourself? A Memory Pack ensures that the 14-way (!) electrically adjustable Sports seats have a memory function for the driver. Not that you would ever want to voluntarily give up a Carrera Cabrio like this… Other abbreviations have a more practical value, such as Porsche Communication Management (PCM) and bi-xenon headlights equipped with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS). The pinnacle of comfort are the 2 fold-out cup holders above the glove compartment. However, also the Cruise Control, because you can bet that it will save you a lot of speeding tickets… The Bose audio system sounds amazing, but we find it most interesting with the volume knob on position 0. The reason for this is the name sports exhaust. An original Porsche one, of course.
Technology & performance
The turbo-free 3.8-litre 6-cylinder boxer engine rumbles, crackles and pops like a delight. Your ears will be treated to a sound experience. There is no audiophile who cannot appreciate the sound of the sports exhaust! Coupled with a lightning-fast 7-speed PDK automatic transmission, the 991 Carrera 4S Cabriolet is able to convert a power of 400 hp into an acceleration time of 0-100 km/h within 4.5 seconds. Only at a top speed of 294 km/h does the Porsche decide that it has lost enough wild hair. After all, you have to save some for the next ride! The four-wheel drive Elfer sticks to the asphalt and seems to want to give the concept of ‚grip‘ a new meaning. Atmospheric or not, you are guaranteed to gasp for oxygen during an attempt to set a new lap record. Or will you keep your head cool this summer and is a leisurely cruise along the boulevards sufficient?
Kind regards,
team Prins.
