Better, prettier and tighter than the non-facelift Porsche 991. More compact, more agile and therefore more pure than successor 992. The Porsche 991.2 was supposed to bridge the gap between the aforementioned 2 models and thus provide a natural transition. But it ended up being perhaps the best Elfer ever built. Especially in Carrera 4S livery, the Porsche is a real beauty. The sports coupe carries the iconic silhouette of the legendary model like no other. At the same time, it adds a solid portion of its own character.
The Porsche 991.2 Carrera 4S is a modern machine without denying its history. Looking for perfection? Congratulations, you’ve just found it… Cast in a distinguished, yet super chic Jet Black costume fitted with a pearl effect, the accent is literally on the timelessly beautiful design of the thickly dressed German. Add dark taillights, black emblems, gloss anthracite-colored 20-inch Carrera S wheels and red brake calipers, and we are dealing with an uncompromising machine. It doesn’t get more pure than this!
Interior
At least, that’s what we thought. But then the door opened and we were pleasantly surprised by black leather upholstery combined with a GT Sport steering wheel, Sport seats Plus and a high-tech carbon interior finish. Whew, this 911 Carrera 4S is clearly serious! Once seated, our eye catches the distinctive clock that has taken a prominent place in the middle of the dashboard. The clock is part of the Sport Chrono Plus package; another reference to crushing performance. As uncompromising as the exterior is, they have been consistent in their approach to the cockpit’s furnishings. The black leather is further enhanced thanks to the optional leather package. And the Alcantara headliner is also black in color. The formidably seated Sport Plus seats also contain the famous Porsche crest in the integrated headrests. As if now you can still miss what kind of top athlete you have taken position in….
Options & extras
You need have no fear of a dark meaning on board the German. The uniformly dark interior is lit from above thanks to the optional panoramic sliding/tilting roof. If it is not warm enough for an open sunroof, the built-in seat heater will ensure a comfortable temperature. Adaptive LED headlights and a camera illuminate the area around you. Furthermore, occupants (and spectators) can fully enjoy the impressive sounds that the Bose audio system – or the sports exhaust – sends into the world. Via Apple CarPlay your favorite track is found in no time. Although we doubt that your new favorite will be among them, since nothing beats the sound of a 6-cylinder boxer…
Engineering & Performance
The evolution of the 911 is even more visible under the skin than on the outside. The boxer engine in the rear is assisted by a twin turbo. No, we are not confused: this is really a Carrera and not a 911 Turbo. The blown 6-cylinder has the big advantage of sending no less than 420 horses towards the extra wide 4S hips. With 500 Nm of torque, the Porsche 991-2 gains 20 hp and 60 Nm respectively compared to the ’normal‘ 991 Carrera 4S. Accelerating from 0-100 km/h should therefore not take longer than 4 seconds. The PDK transmission shifts up to a top speed of 303 km/h in no time. But it is in the midst of sprints and corners that the four-wheel drive Elfer really comes into its own. Our Porsche seems to have swallowed every tube of super glue, that’s how firmly it sticks to the asphalt. And you? Will you also stick to the road during a visit to Prins?
