From there, the car was acquired and registered in Illinois, where the 2nd owner would sparingly add miles over their roughly 18 year ownership stint. Regular servicing was completed at Porsche Napleton Westmont, which included oil changes, A/C recharging, brake fluid and brake replacements, and more. In early 2024, the consignor acquired the car and refreshed the suspension by adding Bilstein PSS10 coilovers, wheel spacers, and a custom alignment resulting in an incredible stance and improved handling mimicking the euro-spec Carrera RS. A number of other service related items were addressed at this time totaling over $10,000.
Today, this example presents in excellent condition with tasteful, subtle upgrades, and known, limited history. Considering there are only 701 units produced and the relatively cheap values over the years, finding clean and well cared for example as complete as this with 30+ pages of service history is quite a challenge. Not to mention this one checks all of the right boxes from the factory with its lack of sunroof, LSD, and A/C.
Included in the sale of this RS America are two keys, Porsche COA, many service records, tool kit, air compressor, window sticker, manuals, and a clean Carfax.

In 1973, Porsche announced the original Carrera RS 2.7 to much acclaim. At the time, Porsche didn’t offer the RS for the U.S. market. The story was the same when they decided to bring the RS namesake back in 1992, when they created the Carrera RS and it would again not be sold in the U.S. In 1993 however, they decided to make a car that met U.S market regulations as well. This model was dubbed “RS America”
The RS America borrowed the standard brakes, engine and gearbox from the Carrera 2, however it was nearly 100lbs lighter than a Carrera 2. The RS America benefitted from the M030 sport suspension package, which included bits from the 911 Turbo. Specifically, the progressive springs, thicker stabilizer bars, upgraded shocks, as well as 17 inch Turbo-style wheels. In total, they only produced 701 examples of the RS America.
