In August 1989, Porsche therefore presented the replacement for the 911 Carrera 3.2L, available only with all-wheel drive. Stupor among Porsche enthusiasts (which rhymes with purists)! Despite everything, the name Carrera 4 can give hope that there will be a 911 Carrera 2. Indeed, Porsche is betting big on its new generation of 911 and cannot deprive itself of its regular customers. The 2-wheel drive 911 (Carrera 2) was released the following year, shortly after the Carrera 4 went on sale. Aesthetically, both cars appear identical, except of course for the logo on the engine cover.

The gossipmongers and neophytes will even say that since the 3.2L, only the shields have evolved… In reality, you should not trust appearances, because the 911 type 964 is 85% new. On the technical sheet, the difference between C2 and C4 is a weight reduction of 35 kg – leading to a modification of the distribution more in line with the 911 spirit with 40% on the AV and 60% on the AR.

The flat 6 of the Carrera 2 is strictly identical to that of the Carrera 4. On this point, no jealousy. So let’s just remember that this 3.6 liter provides 250 hp at 6100 rpm and 310 Nm at 4800 rpm for an announced weight of 1350 kg. The cylinder head which was initially fixed directly to the engine block without a cylinder head gasket caused sealing problems resulting in oil leaks on many models until 91. An innovation inspired by competition, dual ignition was also brought its share of mishaps due to the fault of a poorly studied distributor.

The year 1992 represented a year full of movement for the 911 Carrera 2. To begin with, the engines were revised after having experienced numerous teething problems. The sealing is reinforced, the dual-mass flywheel changes supplier (LUK) and the dual ignition distributors cooled to avoid belt breakage.

The car on offer was delivered new in Germany in February 1992, and arrived in France in 2015 with the second and penultimate owner for whom we sold this car to the last owner.

It is in perfect condition, the front mask was repainted when we sold the car, there was quite a bit of gravel, the car has never been in an accident. A complete detailing was carried out on this occasion, there are no micro scratches on the bodywork, it is in impeccable condition. The interior is of the same ilk, the leathers are in perfect condition and have been treated. A Blaupunkt radio with bluetooth in an old look was installed.

Mechanically it works perfectly. The tiptronic box shifts smoothly. The tires are almost new.
