The car’s Guards Red paint – code L027 from the paper VIN sticker found in the trunk – retains an even gloss overall, including on the lower valances. If any part of the car has been repainted, the work was extremely well done. Front and rear spoilers are crack- and dent-free. Inside, the black leather interior makes for a perfect complement to the exterior color. It, too, shows no signs of neglect or abuse.
Luxury came first in the 928 interior, with comfortable seats for all 4 occupants, extra HVAC vents and sun visors for rear seat passengers, and leather covered seating and door trim surfaces. The 928’s interior is a great place to be, and its comfort rivals new luxury touring cars. The interior of this 928 was thoroughly checked recently, and any burned out lights, or power components that were found to be inoperable have been replaced or adjusted. This includes among many other things, instrument cluster lights, HVAC control lights, window switches, sunroof track cleaned and adjusted, blower motor resistor, and driver’s seat switch.
Service records from current day and dating back to 1986 show that this car was very well cared for over the years. The most recent service was an engine out rebuild due to a snapped timing belt. The entire engine was disassembled, degreased, and reassembled with new seals and gaskets. A number of aging components were replaced including; new timing components (hydraulic tensioner installed), vacuum hoses, fuel lines (upgraded Greg Brown lines), accessory belts, spark plugs, plug wires, cooling system hoses, fuel pump, and fuel hoses. The alternator was rebuilt, and fuel injectors were cleaned and flow matched. While the car was apart for the engine rebuild, the brake system was checked out as well as the steering system. Rubber brake hoses were replaced with stainless steel units, and the steering rack was replaced along with upgraded bushings, and new inner/outer tie rods. The finished product is a Porsche GT car that runs and drives superbly, and the more modern ‚Turbo Twist‘ wheels add just a little extra in the looks department.
This Guards Red 928 has been thoroughly checked over, and was always well maintained as shown by the service records dating back to 1986. A 928 with the amount of documentation that comes with the car including the window sticker is hard to find, add to the fact that every system has been looked over, and parts have been replaced if necessary, this car is in awesome road worthy condition.
