1982 Porsche 924 Carrera GTS – RM Sotheby’s
Porsche is famed for its top-quality, limited-edition specials. Cars such as the 964 Carrera RS, 993 GT2, 911 R, and GT3 RS 4.0 immediately spring to mind. But special editions weren’t limited to variants of the 911. The humble 924 also received some special treatment in the early 1980s. The 924 Carrera GT was homologated for the GTP class in the 1980 Le Mans 24 Hours. Barth and Schurti brought the #4 car home in a superb 6th overall. Four hundred and six Carrera GTs were built, but these evolved into the rarer GTS (59 built).
