Note: Just Pulled from Long-Term Storage, Will Need Serving Prior to Road Use.
9111112345 was purchased new on October 23, 1971 by its first and lifelong owner John Jan of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Jan would meticulously document all accumulated miles at every fill up or noted service – from his acquisition at 45 miles in 1971, to his final entry recorded on July 27, 2017 at 9,892 miles. Today, this exceptionally original Targa displays just 10,015 original miles. Jan retained sole ownership of the Porsche until his passing in early 2019, upon which his niece Anna would inherit the estate.
This charming 2.2L Targa remains in highly preserved condition throughout. Upon inspection, the particular 911certainly leaves a lasting impression. The exterior displays portions of factory paint, while other areas were once retouched – likely due to lacquer imperfections. The body panels and gaps are straight with excellent fit and finish. All glass are factory originals, retaining correct etchings and period Weltmeister decals on the right-rearand front windshield, as well as a 2.2L decal on the rear center. Period AMCO style bumper bars are mounted front and rear, complementing the rear muffler skirt and front amber fog lamps. Painted steel wheels (date stamped 11/70) are mounted to all four corners with older 165HR15 Pirelli CF67 tires. The original Targa top is in exceptional condition.
Inside the cabin is a virtual time-warp to the era and appears to remain in completely original condition. Upholstery, carpeting, trim, fitments, and Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio are all original and remarkably preserved, as expected for an original 10k mile car. Both front and rear compartments present equally as fit, displaying original paint, finishes, and decals in both, while the front is fitted with original Perlon carpeting, wax-sealed smugglers box, notable wrappings and appearances. The rear contains its original matching-numbers engine, which appears to have been kept-up mechanically with services performed in recent years – as noted in the accompanying mileage log and certain visually updated/freshened parts. The 911’s undercarriage and underlying areas received an additional undercoating/rust prevention treatment early in life, which is still intact and likely helped preserve the chassis to its current solidity.
While the Targa appears capable mechanically, we recommend an inspection and scheduled service prior to any road use. We are offering this exciting find in as-is condition and encourage interested buyers to contact us for additional information.
