Porsche 911 T Targa

Collection by Vermant is pleased to offer you this beautifully restored Porsche 911T Long wheel base Targa from June 1971. It concerns a German delivered example of the so-called ‚F-model‘, equipped with its matching numbers 2.2L strong 6-cylinder, good for 125 hp. The car recently underwent a complete ’nut and bolt‘ restoration, where no effort was spared.
The stainless body – with perfect fits and original plate parts – was stripped of its old paint and provided with its original colour ‚Tangerine/2310‘. In addition, the suspension was blasted, galvanized, painted and provided with new rubbers. The engine, gearbox and carburettors were overhauled and restarted. Finally, the entire black interior was restored and all the chrome and rubbers were renewed.
As a result, this special classic is ready for its 2nd youth.

History:

In 1963 Porsche brought the successor of the 356 on the market. At that time still with type indication 901, but soon this had to change to 911. This created the most iconic sports car ever.

Over the years the model range was enlarged. In addition to the ‚basic‘ 911 with a 2.0L strong 6-cylinder engine – good for 130 hp – several versions were available. The standard ‚T‘ (110 HP), the comfort model ‚E‘ (155 HP) or the Super ‚S‘ (160 HP).
In the following years the engine capacity grew from 2.0 to 2.2 and 2.4 litres. The power went up to 125, or 130hp for the 911T, 165hp for the 911E and even 180 or 190hp for the legendary ‚S‘.

In 1967 the Targa was introduced to the market as a ’safety cabriolet‘ with a permanently mounted rollbar and removable soft-top. In this version, Porsche combined the feeling of a convertible with the security of a rollbar. The first types – called softwindow – had a removable plastic rear window, but from 1969 a fixed glass rear window was delivered. In the same model year, the wheelbase was increased by 57mm, resulting in improved driving comfort.
