The 911, the first generation of the most legendary of sports cars, appeared in 1964. It was the purest incarnation of the 911: a minimalist body, an elegant, harmonious profile, a ‚rucksack‘ engine with a modest but adequate 2.2-litre air-cooled displacement, and a 4-speed manual gearbox – a recipe for happiness. As today, different versions were developed: S, RS… The 911 T was produced in 9061 units from 1970 in its 2.2-litre version.
Launched on 3 April 1970, the car was marketed by the famous distributor Sonauto, and the riveted plate under the bonnet attests to its French origin. It has a total of 10,780 unwarranted kilometres and has been in the hands of its current owner for around ten years. The engine and chassis numbers match, making this a ‚matching numbers‘ example, with a Porsche certificate of authenticity to back it up. An extensive service history is available on request, detailing the number of owners and the operations carried out on the vehicle. Technical inspections, Histovec and CarVertical reports are also available. Duplicate keys present.
ENGINE AND GEARBOX
The flat 6, with a displacement of just 2.2 litres for such a light car, develops 125 bhp, 15 more than the 2-litre version. The engine starts without a hitch. The characteristic sound of the flat 6 resonates in the recently replaced mufflers. When you’re driving, the acceleration is straightforward, with no dips in power, and the 4-speed manual gearbox is well calibrated. An initial overhaul was carried out in 1999, followed by a major service including work on the chassis, consumables and engine in 2017 at Garage Pothain, at a cost of over €13,000. More information is available on request.
EXTERIOR
From the outside, it’s almost impossible to tell the 911 T from a 911 S. There are no aerodynamic appendages to detract from the lines, which are enhanced by a completely new original colour, Signal Orange. Its shine and paint thickness readings are very good, with no flaws to be deplored. The Fuchs 5-spoke wheels are in good condition. There are no major defects on the underbody or wheel arches.
INTERIOR
The interior is in very good condition and is finished to a very high standard. Although the original seats will be supplied with the vehicle, the current ones offer good lateral support and are faultless. The relatively spacious rear bench is also free from signs of wear. The driving position is optimal, and the gear lever falls to hand with the momo prototipo steering wheel offering good grip (original steering wheel available). The clear, perforated roof lining is in good condition. The plastics on the dashboard and console have not suffered any major damage. The instrumentation, with its black background and the layout so dear to Porsche, has been taken over and is in perfect working order, with very good visibility. The carpets are of the same standard as the rest of the interior, i.e. in very good condition.
CONSUMABLES
The tyres currently fitted are 2016 Continental Conti Premium Contact 2 225/60 R15 and 205/60 R15 in very good condition with some wear to the front and rear. The brakes show no signs of advanced wear.
