Leaving the factory as a RHD UK registered Porsche 911 964 Carrera 2 in Amazon Green it was the perfect base to be chosen for the build.
As with all Singer’s creations, this bespoke ‘Surrey Commission’ has been completely striped down and reworked. It sports new lightweight carbon fibre bodywork finished in its original colour, Amazon Green, but is further enhanced with added Pearl in the paint as per the Singer build sheet.
The quality of the paintwork is second to none and presents in excellent condition. Predominately blue upon initial glance before the metallic flake and pearl paint flickers it to a green tint made all the more spectacular by direct sunlight. With no side decals optioned the body remains uncluttered and clean, while all bright work has been specified in a light Nickel finish which is a perfect complement to the colour way of this Singer.
INTERIOR
Given the superb colour way specified on the exterior the divine spec continues on the interior with deeply bolstered 8-way adjusting touring seats that are upholstered in Dark Blackberry leather with a suede-mix weave, matching tonal seatbelts and lightweight leather door-pulls that perfectly pair with the stunning exterior. The attention to detail and build quality continues throughout the car; with machined metal petals and foot rest, electric nickel surrounded window switches and Porsche’s iconic 5 Dial dash with an orange central rev counter.
A modern age Porsche Classic head unit has been added and integrated within the dash, featuring Bluetooth and Aux inputs while a base speaker added in the rear and is interchangeable with one of the seat bases.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Under the sculpted rear engine cover and wrapped in blue quilted leather sits the near 400bhp 4.0-litre engine designed and built for Singer by the engineers at Ed Pink Racing. It retains the case of the 964 and employs a bespoke crankshaft, oil pump, pistons, cylinders, connecting rods, cams, cylinder heads, throttle bodies and intake system to produce 315lb/ft of torque with performance quoted at 3.3 seconds to 60mph and 100mph arriving in 8.2 seconds.
Mated to its original but rebuilt gearbox, and modified drivetrain to include a limited slip differential, the driving experience combined with the optional Ohlins suspension is a thrilling, analog experience which is perfectly tuned to fast road driving.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The ‘Surrey Commission’ uses newly developed 17’’ forged aluminium wheels which are extremely strong, lightweight and in the style of the iconic Fuchs wheels designed in the 1960s. Finished in white Nickel on the barrels and the Centers, the surrounding outline is painted in Aubergine both colours of which match the exterior and interior trim and interior leather colour nicely.
Brakes are upgraded 993 units finished in red with steel discs.
