The Porsche 911 R is a great celebration and modern throwback to the driver-focused cars upon which the famous Stuttgart marque built its enduring legacy. The limited edition 911 R debuted at the Geneva International Motor Show in March 2016.
Powered by the GT3 RS’s 4.0-litre, naturally aspirated engine and producing 500 horsepower, the 911 R was available only with a six-speed manual gearbox. For true purists, a lightweight, single-mass flywheel was available. Mechanically similar to the GT3 RS—though lacking the massive rear wing for a more subdued aesthetic—the limited-edition machine carried a different ethos, with numerous changes to its suspension and steering. Fittingly, Porsche produced only 991 examples of the 911 R for the 2016 model year.
The 2016 Porsche 911 R offered here was completed by the Zuffenhausen factory on 25 June 2016, finished in White with Red 911 R stripes over a Black leather interior with stitching in GT Silver. The Porsche was specified for delivery to its native Germany and configured with many desirable optional extras including the Sport Chrono Package, 20-inch GT3 wheels, extended-range fuel tank, and front axle lift system. The full list of optional equipment can be viewed in this lot’s history file. At the time of cataloguing, the odometer read only 56 kilometres.
