“Outrageous” is the term that springs to mind when encountering any car that has been massaged by the brilliant Japanese designer Akira Nakai. Beginning almost twenty years ago, Nakai began to modify Porsches and Japanese domestics with exaggerated fiberglass bodywork packages including wide fenders, huge rear spoilers, modified drive-trains and suspensions, and oversized wheels and tires for his friends in the Drift and Tuner communities, and his client base soon grew nearly world-wide. His called his company RAUH-welt Begriff” , meaning “Rough World Concept”, and as his designs evolved, they also carried the label “Zweite Entwicklung”, or “Second Evolution”. Nakai says “Style is everything!” He builds and installs about sixty body kits a year, traveling to personally install these packages on his customers’ cars, often working around the clock to ensure that every piece is installed properly.

This extraordinary example was constructed as a show-car at RWB’s Austrian franchise in 2017, and is based on a 1992 Porsche Carrera 4 Coupe. The 3.6-liter engine was completely rebuilt with high-performance internals and fitted with a single turbocharger and intercooler. Built for a German client, it is equipped with a roll cage, Recaro seats, air shocks, and full racing trim sporting the iconic Apple Computer livery first seen on a 935K3 raced at the 1980 24 Hours of Le Mans. Among its many interesting features is the set of special 18-inch-diameter Messer three-piece center-lock alloy wheels with air extractors. Tuners love to show their cars, and this RWB C4 was judged the best of 48 entries at the 2019 European Tuning Show. It is now offered as part of a private collection and is supplied with a detailed 2018 appraisal containing construction photographs, which details its modifications.

This “Kamiwaza-style” RWB would be the star attraction of any show or Cars and Coffee gathering anywhere in the world. Road & Track magazine recently commented; “Love them or hate them, there is no mistaking an RWB custom 911 for anything else.”
