Conceived to fit in between the 911 T and the 911 S, the 911 E was designed to be the most comfortable of the 911 models. As such, many were lavishly appointed with a variety of factory options. In addition, the ‚E‘ designation stood for ‚einspritzung‘, German for ‚injection‘, noting mechanical fuel injection. With a 2.4L displacement, the 911 E’s motor was good for 165hp and 151lb.ft. of torque. This is enough to propel the lightweight car to 60mph in approximately 7.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 137mph.
Produced for only two model years, the 911 E is fairly rare. For example, only 1,055 Targas were produced for 1973. Today, these cars, like all air-cooled 911s, have seen a surge in values, making them an excellent investment choice. Of course, driving enthusiasts have long known them to offer exceptional driving dynamics and daily-drivable livability.
The gorgeous 1973 Porsche 911 E 2.4 Targa featured here is finished in its factory-specified colors of Black over a Black leather interior and matching removable Targa top. This exquisite motorcar came equipped from the factory with an extensive array of comfort and performance options, including air conditioning, a limited-slip differential, front/rear stabilizer bars, and Koni shocks. Recently, this impressive motorcar received a comprehensive engine out service with $20,000 spent. We are proud to offer this investment-grade, matching numbers Porsche 911 to the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who understands and appreciates the investment potential of this iconic German classic.
