Exterior

Bonus points earn the 911 classic, cast in an original color, with the overall immaculate condition of the Minerva Blue paintwork. The body underneath is also rock-hard and string-tight, giving the Porsche a crushing impression. Underneath 15 inch Fuchs were mounted including black heart; exactly as it should be! The Carrera 3.0 has the same extended rear wheel arches as the Turbo version. The well-known “whale tail” was also offered as an option on this type at the time. But to be honest, we are glad that this is missing. The standard, automatically opening rear spoiler is more modest in size and simply suits this Italian German better.

Interior & options

Before we reveal what a gem of a machine lies beneath the better spoiler work, please draw your attention to the upgraded equipment level of the 911 Carrera 3.0. Since the 2.7 had to leave the field, Porsche provided its Carrera with more luxury. This example is equipped with an air conditioning system. Do not forget: we are talking about the year 1976!
The minimalist interior has a traditional color (black, half leather upholstered) and has a classic stripe pattern across the middle lanes of the seats. We keep counting how many stripes this Elfer has ahead of others …

Technology & performance

As mentioned, the air-cooled 3.0 liter block of this Carrera is based on that of the 930 Turbo, but without a turbocharger. Remarkably enough, the power of the 200 hp 6-cylinder boxer engine decreased slightly compared to the older 2.7. On the other hand, there is a higher maximum torque that is already available at a lower engine speed for more driving comfort and lower traction. The performance thus remained exactly the same: 0-100 km / h within 6.1 seconds, 0-200 km / h within 27 seconds and a top speed of 236 km / h. In the year 2020 still more than enough for extreme driving pleasure. The sound, the feel, the smell… this is a pure 911 experience!
