3.2 CLUBSPORT PROTOTYPE RECREATION
Over two decades of business, we’ve had the pleasure of building some incredibly special projects and this 1989 3.2 Carrera is one of those cars that we won’t forget. In early 2018 a passionate Porsche owner contacted us and wanted to create a homage to the 3.2 Carrera Clubsport Prototype (a 911 that later evolved into the ‘3.2 Clubsport’ from 1988 to 1989). The ethos behind the Clubsport Prototype was all about lightweight, so around 100kg was saved from a standard 3.2 Carrera (without any options, so in reality it was actually more). The engine was lightly fettled, suspension and brakes improved and some cosmetic changes made, such as the iconic single mirror, non-lipped Turbo spoiler, lightweight front and rear bumpers and interior trim alterations to the seats and dashboard. Although only one car was produced it always resonated with the owner who set off on the journey of building another with his own twist. A 3.2 was acquired and was totally stripped to have a bare metal respray along with a carbon fibre roof added, the interior was also completely retrimmed with new RS carpets and a Bluetooth streaming kit installed to give some comfort on those long European trips. The engine and gearbox were both rebuilt with some additional performance upgrades to give the driving experience a little more excitement (it also now produces one of the best aircooled soundtracks around!). Finally the suspension and brakes were rebuilt and modernised for fast road specification.
